Louis Baumann - oboe

Born in Alsace, Louis started playing the oboe with Christophe Le Divenah and then joined Sébastien Giot's class at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg. After a period in the Paris region in the class of Hélène Devilleneuve and Johannes Grosso, he was admitted in 2015 to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in the class of Jean-Louis Capezzali and Jérôme Guichard. After obtaining his Bachelor, he joined the Zürich Opera Academy in 2018 for two seasons under the mentorship of Bernhard Heinrichs and Clément Noël. At the end of 2019, he was appointed principal English horn with the Orchestre National de Metz, then principal oboe with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. In October 2021, he was awarded 3rd prize ax-æquo in the Geneva Competition. He’s also frequently guesting with other orchestras such as Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Zürich Opernhaus Orchestra or Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
