Stefania Yankova - viola

Stefania Yankova born in Sofia is the Principal Viola of Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra since 2017 and currently PhD student at National Music Academy “Prof.Pancho Vladigerov”.She started to play the violin at the age of 6. Studying first in Bulgaria, at the age of 13 she started playing the viola in the class of Prof.Cavid Cafer in Ankara, Turkey. She studied at National Music Academy “Prof.Pancho Vladigerov” in the class of Prof.Stefan Jilkov as well as at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, Germany and at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria in the class of Prof.Thomas Selditz.

She took part in many chamber music and solo activities playing on stage with Gérard Caussé(viola), Raffaele Malozzi (Principal Viola at Santa Cecilia Chamber Orchestra in Rome),Prof. Augustin Dumay(violin), Gary Hoffman(cello), Frank Braley(piano), Prof.Mario Hossen(violin) at the Brahms Festival in Brussels as well as International Music Academy Orpheus in Vienna, Ushuaia Festival in Argentina and Festival Mesembria Orphica in Bulgaria. Stefania played in Dvorak hall in the Rudolfinum in Prague, Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Musikverein in Vienna.In summer 2011 Mrs.Yankova joined the Orchestra Academy of Esterhazy Palace having also chamber music concerts in the Haydnsaal.

First Prize Winner at National Competition “Svetoslav Obretenov”, Grand Prix at Music of Austria and Germany International Competition and the International Competition Young Virtuosos, Stefania is a recipient of scholarships of "Thomastik - Infeld Vienna".

She joined the master classes of Prof.Michael Tree (founding member of Guarneri Quartet), Prof. Hartmut Rohde, Elmar Landerer (member of Wiener Philharmoniker),Volkhard Steude (Concertmaster of the Wiener Philharmoniker),Prof. Sigfried Führlinger, Gavriel Lipkind, Prof.Wolfgang Klos, Günter Pichler (founder of Alban Berg Quartet).
